Footwear Trends for 2022

3-minute read

As 2022 kicks off, inquiring minds want to know what to expect when it comes to footwear and styling trends this spring. Our senior designer and styling expert, Kalie, dives into what you can expect and how to plan your wardrobe and purchases accordingly.

Footwear and Fashion Trends for 2022

Trend 1: Business Casual

Now that people have grown accustomed to a more hybrid work from home and office approach, we are wanting to feel more put-together than a sweatsuit but still want that sort of comfort and ease. This approach is a balancing act between a softer looking work wardrobe that works for in-person meetings and at home.

Trend 2: Retro-Influenced Brights and Pastels

People are looking for joyful colours that help to boost their mood and balancing them with soothing shades that we can wear for years to come. We are introducing some new core colours such as Olive Drab and Camel and pairing them with uplifting hues such as Rose Quartz, Faded Denim and Racing Red for a punch of colour.

Trend 3: Polished Handbags

With the growing ability to go out more and travel, we are seeing a new found love for our handbag collections. Key items include shoulder bags for an updated add-on to any look and the bucket bag, which is roomy enough to carry your essentials and more but still look ultra polished.

Trend 4: Sophisticated Comfort

Footwear is focused on sophisticated comfort and signature items that will last in your wardrobe. We are adding 2 new EverEase styles to the collection that focus on wear all day comfort paired perfectly with effortless style.

What are your must-have styles from our upcoming collections?

1. The Glove Fit Flat in Olive Drab: This style has a luxe, buttery soft leather with a lightly pebbled finish. I love the Olive colour as a fresh alternative to black that still goes with everything. The sleek look of the shoes will work well with my springtime uniform of straight jeans, white tee with a french tuck and just right oversized coat.

2. The Slouchy Shoulder Bag (coming in April!) allows me to participate in the shoulder bag trend without having to make difficult decisions as to what I can bring with me for the day. The bag is very spacious and has all of our signature functionality - external slip pocket for my phone, interior pockets to keep my go-to items handy and then room for extras such as a book, an umbrella and a water bottle, which all tuck away nicely. Should I get Black or Biscotti? Hmmm…

3. The Elevated Mule (launching in March) will be my office shoe for the coming months. The Black and cream coloured spotted calf hair make these shoes extra special but they still go with everything. I’m picturing a soft blue midi dress, leather moto jacket and these gems to tie it all together.

The products featured in this blog will be launched in upcoming collections in January through May. For notifications and first access, sign up for Poppy Perks!

Belt Measuring Guide

Belt Measuring Guide

A - High-rise style:

If you plan to wear your belt around your natural waistline, wrap a measuring tape around the narrowest part of your midsection. Then, add 3” to determine your high-rise belt size.

B - Mid-rise style:

If you plan to wear your belt lower than your natural waistline, you will require a dierent size. If you have a particular pair of bottoms you intend to wear your belt with, wrap a measuring tape through the belt loops while in a relaxed position.

When wearing your belt in your preferred style, it should fasten in the middle hole. The belt will relax with wear allowing you to cinch it tighter, as needed.

If you plan to wear the belt in both the high and mid-rise styles, you have two options:

  1. Select your high-rise style and fasten it more loosely when worn in the mid-rise style.
  2. Select your mid-rise style and fasten it more tightly when worn in the high-rise style.
